The paintball gun marker is what the paint ball gun is referred to. This probably goes back to the beginning, even before the term paintball.  James Hale, employed at the Daisy Manufacturing is credited for the making and patenting for what has become known as the first paintball gun. The need for farmers to mark the livestock and loggers to mark the trees was the inspiration of the marker. The paint was a oil base paint. At this time, the paint was needed to last for a long time. The paintball used at first was designed by Charles Nelson. The marker was called the Nelspot007.

It wasn’t until the early 1980’s that the first paintball game was enjoyed. The participants was twelve players, in New Hampshire who played the first ever game of capture the flag. The paintball and markers have come a long, long way since that time. The first paintball gun designed for the paintball game was called the Splatmaster, invented by Robert G. Shepherd in 1985. The marker first enclosed in the now standard soft gelatin was invented by George A. Skogg who was employed by Nelson Paint Company. Not only was the marker more accurate, but the highly visible fluid was easy to wash out with a little water and detergent.

The paintball markers of today are designed for the enjoyment of playing a large and various selection of games and game scenarios. One of the paintball markers is the sniper gun. Whether playing in the snow, the sand or a ghost town, there are many different ways to play and enjoy to paintball games.  Being able to vary the themes and locations of the games helps to keep the players from getting bored while developing the different aspects of the game.
